The food is really great here. It is not at all overly salty like some other Jerk places. The chicken is definitely JERKED not baked. The skin on the chicken is crisp and not too spicy. The sauce on the side is always on point (if you like a lot f spice). They also have a great variety of sides to choose from. My fave are the candied yams, rice (which comes standard with each meal) and corn. Always great and always on point. They also have another location on the south side that doesn't disappoint either.

Food always fresh & good. The only thing I would complain about is the speed of service. They will tell u 20 min. But it'll end up being between 30-45 min. The sauce is good. Very spicy, but not the best I've had. The sauce makes the meat too me & it's good but not great.

There jerk sauce is awesome. I had a chicken dinner with Mac and cheese and sweet potatoes. it had more them enough food and great tasting.

**PAY ATTENTION** so you don't pass by this Diamond in the ruff!!!! Friendly customer service, excellent meals and a great portion as well! American and Jamaican beverages available as well. Small sitting area to enjoy your meal; might be a good idea to call ahead...Tropic Island, Calumet City is on high demand. Stop by and enjoy, you'll see : )

If you look at my other reviews, you will begin to notice that I love jerk chicken. Well, I've been to many places around Chicago and its suburbs, and this one is by far the best. Located in a plaza, I thought of boy, I'm in for it now. I took my meal home, and wow!!! Tender chicken, awesome rice and beans, and amazing fresh cabbage. Plus you get any other side. I cost mac and cheer and I'm glad I did! Lastly, they give you that caribbean bread! Mmmm!!! This place was so good I don't know what to say! There's another location, but this one suits me well. Its not in the best area, but its worth the effort. I am thinning about changing my other ratings as a result of how good this place was. One thing, the jerk sauce was citusy which was different but not bad. I ordered an extra but they never gave me it. Oh well, doesn't affect my great mood! Gem of Caribbean food in Calumet City! Who would have thought?!
